From Easy SUV Trails to Hardcore Lines – One Ukrainian Quarry, All Levels of Off-Road | Odesa

Early spring 2021, one year before the full-scale war in Ukraine. This video takes you to a club off-road event organized by the Odesa off-road community in an abandoned quarry between the village of Nati and the outskirts of Nerubaiske, on the shore of the Khadzhibey Estuary near Odesa. The organizers prepared several routes with different levels of difficulty. The easiest track was designed for regular SUVs like Suzuki Grand Vitara, Nissan Rogue / X-Trail, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and similar vehicles. More demanding stages were built for properly prepared 4x4s with real low-range, differential locks and winches: Nissan Patrols, Suzuki Jimnys, Jeep Cherokees and Wranglers, as well as modified UAZ and Lada Niva rigs. The most difficult course was reserved for full-frame off-road machines purpose-built for competition. One of the local favorites of the Odesa off-road scene – a tube-frame rig nicknamed “Shrek” – was the natural favorite for the hardest line. But on the very last special stage, even this beast ran into an unexpected surprise.
