One of the most exciting parts of caravanning is hooking up your caravan to your tow vehicle - it means your holiday is right around the corner! This guide will show you how to hitch your van. Follow our simple step-by-step instructions: [00:46] Make sure your coupling is higher than the tow ball [00:52] When you're backing up, the tow ball should be directly underneath the coupling [01:00] When dropping the van and coupling onto the tow ball, make sure you unclip the coupling at the top using the lever and pull upwards to lock into place. [01:09] Wind down the jockey wheel so the coupling sits over the top of the tow ball [01:16] Once this is done, make sure make sure you drop the pin back down over the lock so it locks over the tow ball. [01:24] Safety chains must always be crossed. Always make sure you do not have an excessive amount of length on your chains. [01:24] Make sure you use rated D shackles to connect the chain. [01:53] To connect your 12 pin plug, lower the casing and connect so it is nice and firm. [02:01] If you have an Anderson plug, make sure you plug this in as well. [02:08] The reversing camera is a pigtail, insert this into the tow vehicle and also the RV. Make sure the connection is firm. [02:27] Wind down and remove the jockey wheel, remember to lock off and close the wheel clamp. [02:39] Finally, release the handbreak and triple check your connection to your tow vehicle.
