RED by Taylor Swift is a great song to play on guitar, especially for beginners. This song is on the RED album from 2012 and has a great groove to it. This song has also been featured in the Eras Tour Movie. In this lesson, I go through two different versions of how to play this song: 1) With easy voicings to play without a capo (and to avoid the dreaded F chord!). This is how I would play this song live as a solo acoustic artist. In this version I anchor my ring and pinky fingers on the D and G strings and slide the up and down. This is a very Dave Grohl style of guitar, where the top strings ring open and provie the shimmer like cymbals on a drumset. 2). The way Taylor plays it with a capo on the 4th fret. This version uses an F chord and fits well with a full band or if you aren't comfortable with version 1. In the end, with guitar, just do whatever is most comfortable for you. Playing along with the record also helps generate confidence and will significantly increase the speed of your chord changes and your strumming rhythm. 10 minutes a day every day is better than 1 hour once a week as well!
