Hello, in this video I have taken the gamma spectrum of a Raytheon CK1097-12 spark gap tube containing Cs137. In fact I've already made the two tests and I will show you just the results :) The test conditions were the following: Distance from the probe: in contact with the glass tube. Test duration: 1800 sec. The only difference between the two tests is the employment of the lead shielding. As is clearly visible in the video, the first spectrum (unshielded) shows the distinctive Cs137 photopeaks, a 75keV peak, and not least the back scattering peak, the Compton continuum, the Compton edge and the Compton valley. The second spectrum (shielded) shows exactly the same count rate for the 662keV photopeak, a small attenuation at 32keV and a strong attenuation of the 75keV peak. The nice thing is that in this case all the photopeaks are much more visible and definite (eg. the 32keV and 75 keV photopeaks, as well as the back scattering peak) Any comment will be appreciated Regards, Emanuel
