Meet Grant: A CMN Miracle

Just after birth Grant Wolfe was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), a condition where a hernia or hole is present in the diaphragm. Because of the hole in his diaphragm, his stomach, colon, intestines and spleen moved out of his abdomen into his chest cavity on top of his left lung. He was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and at just 8 days old, Grant had surgery to reposition his abdominal organs to their proper place and repair the hole in his diaphragm. Though his left lung will never have the capacity of the right, Grant is now a thriving, 2-year-old who loves playing with his older brother, Owen.
