What happens when families decide that “home” and school can be anywhere in the world? In this short documentary I met families from the UK, New Zealand and the U.S who homeschool their children while traveling full-time. In the video we'll meet teens who bond through music and parents who talks about a global community that replaces the traditional village. Two teenage musicians, Gabe and Jake, meet by chance in Thailand and immediately connect through music. Within a couple of hours they’re jamming together — a friendship that quickly leads them to perform at open mic nights in countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, Morocco and Montenegro. World schooling means that the children are learning about Egypt in Egypt, Buddhism in Asia, the Roman Empire in Italy and so forth. Basically history where the history happened. 🌍 The teens share their perspective: – Learning through experience across Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe – Studying online courses, GCSEs and preparing for university – The joy of discovering new cultures, and ways of living 🤝 Community is everything: Families are connecting through Facebook Groups where they share their travel plans, coordinate destinations and stay in the same neighborhoods with families they resonate with. 🇺🇸 I also made a quick interview with an American family GOWATKINSGO who have been traveling since 2019. They share how they combine online schooling with exploring local history in every country they visit — from Southeast Asia to Central America to Eastern Europe. 💼 And for the families, this lifestyle is possible because they’re location-independent digital nomads, able to work from anywhere in the world with their laptops. If you're curious about homeschooling, worldschooling, family travel, raising teens abroad or get a glimpse of a nomadic lifestyle this short portrait might get you some inspiration. These families are really a living example of what is possible if you are dreaming about a life beyond borders. 🙏🏻 Many thanks to all the families that participated in this video! ⏱️ Timestamps & Topics 00:56 – Meet Gabe & Jake (16–17): Teen musicians traveling the world 01:08 – Meet Vicky & Rene 02:08 – Teen musicians traveling the world 03:50 – What is World Schooling? 05:53 – Online courses & digital learning while traveling 06:08 – The world-schooling community 06:38 – Gabe & Jake playing foreign music 07:15 – The challenge of constant goodbyes 08:17 – Traveling with multiple families 09:45 – Animal Festival in Budva 10:15 – Meet the Watkins Family 11:24 – Being location independent for 15+ years 👉 If you liked this documentary, please like, comment and subscribe on the channel. / @linusremote 👋🏻 Hire me for video production work 📩 hej@linusthunholm.se 🌐 linusthunholm.se 📸 Instagram – @linusremote 📸 Filmed with Sony A7IV + Stock Footage 🎥 Produced in Budva, Montenegro 🏕️ Check out GOWATKINSGO YouTube-Channel / @gowatkinsgo1813 🌅 Check out The Sigston Clan / thisparentingthing
