Actor Tim Pigott Smith dies aged 70 he British actor Tim Pigott-Smith, who was best known for appearing in the 1984 ITV series The Jewel in the Crown, has died. He was 70. Pigott-Smith was due to appear as Willy Loman in a revival of Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman, which was scheduled to open at Royal & Derngate in Northampton on April 10, before touring in Cambridge, Exeter and Oxford. His wife, Pamela Miles, was also set to appear but was forced to pull out of rehearsals when she broke a bone. He had already completed filming for the forthcoming BBC Two drama King Charles III, an adaptation of the theatre production, in which he reprises the title role that he performed on Broadway and in the West End. The drama, which depicts Prince Charles as the new king, is due to arrive on television next month.
