Some day after the channel had been launched, I got invited to join a maths intervention. Apparently, the ‘higher tier’ teacher was going to be the headteacher himself — which sounded kinda interesting. But when I got there, it turned out he was actually teaching the foundation tier instead! I was honestly disappointed with that result, so instead of sitting there bored, I decided to make my 5-hour free time useful by heading to a nearby rail replacement. Coincidentally, both the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines had replacements that day — double the fun! I went straight over and saw EN3 doing the JL2, which I thought would be a great catch. But as soon as it arrived, the driver decided to take a long break… for hours! So I gave up waiting and decided to go explore elsewhere. That’s when I randomly came across VW1049 and thought, why not hop on? And wow, that decision paid off big time. The driver was absolutely flooring it along the route — proper kickdown moments everywhere! The ZF shifts were clean, and the acceleration was way better than I expected. It instantly made my day after that earlier disappointment. It’s moments like this that make the bus scene special — you never really know when you’ll come across a gem like this.
