I don’t know about you, but I love the word vitality. It just sounds alive, doesn’t it? It makes me think of energy drinks, vitamins, or maybe that one person in your family who wakes up way too cheerful at 6 a.m. singing “This is the day that the Lord has made.” But vitality isn’t just about being hyper or caffeinated. It’s about having life, energy, and passion flowing through you. And when we talk about a church with vitality, we’re talking about a community of believers that’s not limping along, not stuck in survival mode, but full of the Spirit of God, alive with love, purpose, and mission. A church with vitality is not measured by the size of the building, the slickness of the programs, or how perfect the choir sings. It’s measured by how alive it is in Christ. So, what does it mean to be a church with vitality today? It means being spiritually alive – rooted in Jesus, filled with His Spirit. It means being relationally alive – truly loving one another, not just in word, but in deed. It means being missionally alive – focused outward, sharing the gospel with the world. Folks, let’s not settle for being a museum where we preserve the past. Let’s be a movement that brings life to the present. Because Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” And that full life – vitality – is what He wants, not just for individuals, but for His whole Church.
