I am trying a bit of a Taj Mahal setup here: I got out my Crate Acoustic amp, and put my Blu microphone some distance in front of it. This gives me a little bit of control over the frequency range and allows a bit of room effect in this otherwise acoustically dead space. I wrote this jig more than 30 years ago, in honor of the installation of a stove into Navan Co. Meath banjo player Peter Fitzgerald's rental apartment on the second floor of his East Baltimore house. Peter was given the stove by Billy McComiskey. Not knowing better, we assembled it ourselves and, between talking to neighbors and the local hardware company, hooked it up to the gas line. This is not recommended practice, but it worked a charm. The stove had a pilot light for each of the four burners, hence the four part jig. I played the tune for a fleadh one year and got 2nd in the US, but no joy at the All Ireland in Ennis.
