So we have a 2009 Altima that got hit in a parking lot, someone backed into it and took off, we are going to fix it without replacing the quarter panel, pushing the dent out with a porta-power, then filling with fiberglass reinforced body filler. sand 80-120 grit and glaze. Sand 320 grit and use 2-3 coats of filler primer. Wet sand with 400 grit getting a really good feathered edge. Then rough out the surrounding area with 600-800 grit. Clean the area really good and blend the new base coat. Then overlap the repair area with 3 coats of clear coat, use ure-blend to melt the new clear coat edge into the old clear coat. After 2 days wet sand imperfections with 1000 grit 1500 grit and 2000 grit. Then a nice buff and it's all fixed. We are using evercoat body filler products, upol filler primer, upol liquid gold and limco base coat paint that was purchased at a local paint refinishing supplier matching the paint code. I used Acme finish 1 clear coat with hardener. The ure-blend is a Sherwin-Williams product , many similar products are available online, just remember that 2k should always be used for better results. I work out of a small garage and I can still get good results without replacing everything and without a paint booth. You can too because autobody is a fun and rewarding skill to learn!! I was using a small inexpensive gravity feed paint gun with a 0.9 nozzle. I have two sets of inline filters in between the compressor and the paint gun running at 25-35 psi at the regulator.
