Attending the F1 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria

This was one of the best sporting events we have ever attended! Basics Red Bull Ring located in Spielburg, Austria Race traditionally late June Popular stop on the calendar for sprint race weekends. They don't have it in 2025, but we had it in 2024 and several years before that We attended events Friday, Saturday & Sunday which was sufficient for seeing all the racer interviews and taking in the events. Tickets/Where To Sit A lot of options with 8 grandstands to choose from. We'd highly recommend the Red Bull grandstands as it gives you views of the first turn and the main stretch after that. We sat higher up in the Red Bull grandstand which also give us great views of the action on the back side of the track. General admission available. From what we could see there were good viewing options available for these tickets as well. You can buy directly from the grand prix's website well in advance, otherwise we bought ours from the official F1 ticket store (tickets.formula1.com) and it went smoothly at what looked to be reasonable prices Getting There/Where To Stay Spielburg itself has limited accomodation options and they are often booked fast by teams and crew members. The town is 1 hour from Austria's second largest city, Graz, which is a popular destination. We looked for an Airbnb and found a cute cabin in a rural area around an hour away. For those looking to stay on-site, camping is a great option with many options available. We saw anything from advanced travel trailers, to rentable glamping units, and just standard camping tents. We rented a car which made it an easy drive in and out. If taking a train, the nearest station is Knittelfeld and there is a free shuttle that takes you to the circuit. Parking Very accessible right off the highway. Quick walk to the track. Primary in grass fields Fan Zones There are two well done fan zones at the track The first is located behind the Red Bull grandstand area. This zone has the main stage where racer interviews happen which was one of our highlights of the weekend. There is also on-stage entertainment throughout the weekend, lots of food and drink vendors, race simulators, and other attractions to see. This is the smaller of the two zones. The second zone is located behind the main grandstand location. This is a larger area that also includes a variety of food and drink vendors. The highlight here is a large indoor tent location which multiple bands and live entertainment. This was a great spot to get out of the sun and sing along to the live bands. Overall Experience Really impressed with the overall experience. Very friendly fans regardless of what team you were rooting for. Fun to see the Orange Army while there as well (they had a dedicated grandstand). Things were done efficiently and overall clean and organized. Great setup for watching racing and beautiful surrounding scenery.
