A thermal infra-red video taken of a small pyroclastic flow. A slab of rock fell off from the lava dome, which can be seen glowing at the beginning of the movie. It was unclear which direction the pyroclastic flow might have been going - but then it was spotted to the western side of the volcano, on gages fan. At the end of the video the flow slowly comes towards the camera during it's end phase. Whilst the flow didn't go very far (around 2km), if it had continued in the same direction as at the end, then it would have eventually drained into the Belham River valley, at the western end of Lee's Yard. This has not happened yet during the eruption (since 1995), but with the largest lava dome ever, MVO scientists are carefully considering all possibilities.
