Presented by Dr. Monica Cooper, University of California Cooperative Extension, Napa County Viticulture Advisor. Grapevine leafroll disease is one of the most devastating viral diseases of grapevine worldwide. Management involves an integrated approach that includes the selection of clean planting material, vector detection and management, and removal of diseased vines to reduce viral inoculum. This talk will focus on the process of integrating these tools into a successful disease management program to reduce economic and environmental impacts of leafroll disease. It will also cover grape mealybug biology and management, leafroll disease transmission biology, ecology, and decision support tools, and management including clean plants, vine mapping, and approaches for roguing. This video was developed by WSDA-Specialty Crop Block Grant #K3950 titled “Stop the Spread: Building Pest Management Plans to Comply with Grape Quarantine Rules” managed by the Washington Wine Industry Foundation.
