There is a lot of interest in creating and maintaining wildflower meadows and roadside verges for insects, but not all of the new meadows cater for the life cycles of butterflies and moths. This video is a compilation of presentations delivered as part of Meadow Creation and Management best-practice workshops which were delivered in Irvine, Glasgow and Edinburgh as part of our Helping Hands for Butterflies Project. CHAPTERS 00:00 Introduction to the presentation 00:43 Urban Meadow Creation and Management by Anthony McCluskey from Butterfly Conservation. 34:27 Irvine to Girvan Nectar Network (working on a very large scale), by Lynne Bates from Scottish Wildlife Trust. 01:02:06 Bringing Biodiversity into Grasslands (focussing on Road Verge and Amenity Grassland Management) by Dr Phil Sterling from Butterfly Conservation 01:26:26 Stirling’s On the Verge Project from Leigh Biagi. The Helping Hands for Butterflies Project was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and NatureScot, and concluded in October 2022. #SaveButterflies #MothsMatter #Butterflies #Moths #Meadows #Conservation
