(Visit: http://www.uctv.tv/) This concert organ in Hertz Hall is a major addition to UC Berkeley's Music Department. Built by the Noack Organ Co. of Georgetown, Mass., in 1982, the company refurbished it and installed it at UC Berkeley over the summer, 2013, and it was inaugurated on November 23, 2013. The organ was designed with a deep respect for the tradition of the great North German organ builders whose instruments were admired by Johann Sebastian Bach, but it is also excellent for more modern music . The instrument has three manuals and pedals, with 35 speaking stops. It is a tracker-action instrument, meaning that there is a strictly mechanical connection between the keyboards (and pedalboard) and the mechanism that allows air to enter individual pipes.
