Welcome back to Swiss Aviation Spotter! 🇯🇵 In this video, I head to Fukuoka Airport, Japan’s fourth-largest airport and one of the busiest aviation hubs in the country. Fukuoka plays a key role in Japan’s domestic network, especially on the ultra-busy routes to Tokyo Haneda, where widebody aircraft like the Boeing 777, 787 and Airbus A350 are a common sight. On this particular day, strong and gusty crosswinds made operations especially challenging. You’ll witness three go-arounds, as pilots safely aborted landings due to unstable approaches, a great showcase of real-world airline decision-making and airmanship. Alongside the go-arounds, this video features a mix of domestic and international arrivals and departures, including airlines from Japan, Korea, China, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Fukuoka is unique because it offers something rarely seen in Europe, high-frequency domestic routes operated by widebody aircraft, sometimes every 20 minutes during peak hours. Combined with military traffic and regional jets, this makes Fukuoka an outstanding location for plane spotting.
