The company recommends placing the pouches inside the hive using shims and returning later to remove them. I chose to apply Norroa through: • Internal frame feeders • Jar feeders at the entrance My reasoning: • I don’t want to fully break down brood boxes unnecessarily • I don’t want to add shims and then be required to return on a specific timeline to remove them • I don’t always know when I can make it back to a yard • This method minimizes disturbance You’ll see several hives with three jar feeders at the entrance, delivering the full 2-liter dose. I also explain: • How Norroa works • Why I’m trying it at this time of year • Lower brood populations and typically lower mite pressure • No honey supers on (treatment stays in brood boxes) • Potential 18-week control window (into late spring / early summer) I also discuss why I do not perform mite counts. For my operation, it does not change my treatment plan — I treat all hives and rotate treatments. Time and energy are limited resources.
