In this video, Sensei Sean Lawrence of Ice Bear Kyokushin teaches you how to tie your karate belt/obi. Steps: 1. Fold belt in half 2. Wrap belt around your waist, starting from the center of your body (your stripes start on the right) 3. Left over right — tuck the left end under every layer of the belt; tighten 4. Right over left (the same end that just went under) — guide it through the loop; tighten Your belt's stripes should end up on your left side. - Remember: Respect your obi! Never wash it and never let it lay on the floor. You may let the tips of the obi brush the ground while you are tying it, and it may touch the floor while you are wearing it; this is not the same as laying it on the floor. - Edited by M. Lawrence
