The E-Class Wagon is appreciated not only for its high standards of safety and comfort. It is above all appreciated for the versatility offered by its cargo area. In this film we will examine how to remove the vehicle's headliner. Open the sliding roof. Remove the ignition key. For vehicles with Keyless-Go the key has to be kept at least two meters away from the vehicle. This is to prevent the ignition from switching on. Using an assembly wedge, remove the cover for the cameras and sensors on the windshield. Also remove the small cover over the mirror. Unclip the overhead control panel with care, as there are four electrical connectors located behind it. Unplug the connectors. Unplug the connectors for the rearview mirror and pull out the mirror, applying some force if necessary. Remove the three screws in the retaining plate of the mirror. Move on to the sun visors. Unclip the frame around the bracket. Then unclip the bracket itself. Detach the second frame. Use a screwdriver to remove the molding. Repeat the procedure for the molding on the passenger side. To remove the grab handle, loosen the slide piece and remove it. Push the handle towards the outside and it will automatically detach. Remove the other three grab handles in the same way. Continue with the trim on the upper part of the B-pillar. Pull off half of the door rubber seal. Detach the trim by unclipping the three retaining clamps. Undo the last clip from the back seat. Allow the trim piece to hang on the belt. Repeat the procedure on the passenger side. Working from the back seat, remove the clothes hangars on both side. Further to the rear you will find two fastening hooks on both sides for the luggage net. Also remove these. The following steps are performed in the rear section of the wagon. New features in the E-Class Wagon include the two levers on the left and right behind the taillights. Use them to fold down the back seats with a flick of the wrist. Remove the combined luggage cover and retaining net. Use the handle to pull out the cargo area trim section shown here. Do the same on the opposite side. Use your wedge to unclip the cover for the rear seat latch hooks. Unclip the cover frame for the combined luggage cover and net on the left-hand side and remove it. Detach the cover frame on the right side by removing the screw as shown. On both sides, press in the bag holder and remove its cover piece. Remove the expansion rivets at the top and at the bottom. Pull out this section of the cargo area trim. Unclip the cover grill. Loosen the side ledge but do not take it out completely. Remove the retaining clamps of the C-pillar trim. Remove the ledge. Remove the C-pillar trim and place it on the back of the rear seat. The loading sill protector is held down by the four screws shown here. Remove these screws. Undo the six expansion rivets and remove the edge guard. Remove the lower D-pillar trim. Remove the two screws for the upper D-pillar trim. Pry out the two cargo area lamps and unplug the connector. Unclip the D-pillar trim and pull it towards the rear. Remove the guide rail for the combined luggage cover and retaining net. Remove the trim piece. Unplug the connector on the right side behind the C-pillar trim. Note for vehicles with sliding roof: The two magnets shown here hold the headliner and the roof paneling together. Standing at the rear side doors, insert your hand between the headliner and the body to get as close as possible to the magnets. Apply pressure downwards to separate them. The headliner can only be removed after separating the magnets as just described. Simply pulling on the headliner will not detach it. Press down on the sliding roof edge to detach the headliner from the velcro strips. On models without a sliding roof, a single magnet is used instead of the three velcro strips. Have someone help you pull the headliner out over the luggage compartment. Now you can start your repair work on the vehicle. =========================================================== instagram: / mbownersclub twitter: / mb_owners
