Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. Tonic & Remadee's show was known as "The Drive By Show”. DJ Tonic also produced under the aliases, The Mack, Genetix, Rory Doherty and was part of a duo called Cybernet (with Neil Gordon, on Emotif Recordings). Here are some of the following releases by DJ Tonic, that are well known to Jungle and DNB vinyl junkies: Tonic – Wake Up Call (Lucky Spin Recordings, 1995) | Tonic – King Shit (Intalektive Records, 1995) Tonic – The Mack (Dee Jay Recordings, 1995) | Tonic – Keep It Real (Lucky Spin Recordings, 1995) | Tonic – Snipers Breath (Here Comes Trouble Vol. III Trouble On Vinyl, 1996) | Toinc – Renegade /Delta (SOUR, 1996) | Tonic – 24 Break Shit (K Power Records, 1996) | DJ Tonic & N.G – Phoenix / San Siro (Botchit & Scarper Records, 1998) DJ Tonic was part of the Kool FM Hit Squad featuring on the station from the early days of its broadcast and was top of the bill for many of the Kool FM events like Jungle Fever and Kool Skool, also headlining early Jungle Hardcore events at Club Labrythn Dalston Lane and Desert Storm 1995 Simple Tings II @Lazerdrome, Rye Lane Peckham, London. A1 Soundcarrier also featured producers like T.Power, Ray Keith, Shy FX (as 45 Roller), Elementz Of Noize, Click ‘n Cycle, B.L.I.M. along with a few reputable Drum & Bass producers. MC Remadee was an instantly recognisable voice of London’s pirate radio station Kool FM 94.5. To those that remember flicking through the dial and hearing him and locking in. Rema always used to send shouts out the crew strapping up the first aid kit, which meant rolling up a joint/reefer (to those of you who aren’t familiar with the lingo). To those who listened to Kool FM regularly it was something that was frequently mentioned by all the DJs and MCs and there was a big culture of smoking cannabis amongst the DJs, MCs and ravers across the pirate radio and rave scenes. Remadee featured as resident MC for some of Kool FM’s rave events throughout the 90s, performing at Jungle Fever and Kool Skool @The Powerhouse Stratford. In 1995, the Duo were on the bill for "New Jack City" (NJC) @Diamonds Nightclub, Rosina St, Homerton Hackney. Check our Kool FM playlist: • Super Sunday Kool FM 94.5 | Nicky Blackmar... There were many interesting releases coming out in 1996, it was definitely a time when producers had built tracks for MCs to rinse out and go back to back. Despite the growth of the Intelligent Drum & Bass (later dubbed Liquid Drum & Bass) and Jungle Jazz movement, 1996 saw the boom of Jump Up Jungle with the proliferation of many record labels in the lead up. Big up Philly Blunt Records, V Recordings, Joker Records, Congo Natty, Dread Recordings, Dope Dragon Records, True Playaz, Ganja Records, Frontline Records, Ebony Records, Metalheadz, Tearin Vinyl, Urban Takeover, Ram Records, Suburban Base Records, Fresh Kutt Records, Third Eye Records, Flex Records, A-Ko Recordings, Aphrodite Recordings, Back 2 Basics Recordings, Formation Records, Chronic, Collusion Records, Juice Records, Full Cycle Records, Macca Records, Moving Shadow label, No Smoking Records, Proper Talent Records, Renegade Recordings, Riddim Track Records, Strictly Underground Records, 5HQ Recordings, 31 Records, Tech Itch Recordings, Creative Source label, and all the Jungle labels of that era Out to all the London FM pirates of the past. Although they aren’t about now their contribution to the British music industry and to the London music scene has been immense.
