HD PLEASE (tw parental abuse??) BR U H after kumiko and reina, asuka is like my favorite character i'm so emotional over her whole story. like she is the vice president, everyone thinks she's perfect and expects her to lead, but she hides all her problems because she doesn't want to be a burden and uses her energy and humor to try and distract herself and cover up her true emotions. finding out asuka's mother abuses her completely changed how i looked at her. i understood why she was somewhat cold and manipulative underneath her cheerful exterior. the way asuka reacted to her mother hitting her broke my heart because it showed that this is not the first time this has happened. her mom literally slapped the glasses off of her face and she just pushed them back on and matter-of-factly said she had to be excused from practice. with her mom's extreme parenting and hot and cold personality, and some things she says to asuka during the altercation indicate that her mom is unstable and probably emotionally abuses asuka too, and she probably has so emotional/psychological damage from it. honestly, when kumiko yells at asuka and gives her a reality check i think you can see just how deeply it has fucked with her?? like how she handles thing and acts is kinda odd because she has repressed her emotions and only seen manipulation from her mother? so asuka has a kind of off personality at times, especially with emotions. asuka is always striving to prove herself, with the euphonium being her only connection with her dad and her mom messing with their relationship by cutting her off from him completely and trying to get her to stop doing what she loves with music. she works twice as hard as everyone just to be able to do what she loves and try to get her father to hear her play. i'm gonna cry writing this thinking about asuka playing the piece written by her father alone in the field at morning and how emotional she gets every time she plays it, and how the euphonium is her last tie to her dad. the fACT THAT THEY NAMED THE ANIME AFTER THE PIECE HER FATHER WROTE BASICALLY I REALLY, REALLY LOVE ASUKA TANAKA AND YOU SHOULD TOO.
