AMAZING !! Don't throw away your old treadmill! Build a 2" x 72" Belt Grinder with it !

In this video, I convert an old treadmill into a fully working custom 2"x72" Belt Grinder. You can too. Much cheaper than spending big $$$$$ on a professional knife grinder too. I re-used a tonne of parts from the treadmill - in particular the DC motor. The rollers on the backing plate assembly were from the rollers on the treadmill. I cut off each end and welded them back together. (I didn't have a lathe then). The handle was made from treadmill parts. All axles were re-sized and cut-down. 1 of the struts was re-used too. Drive wheel was made out of timber. I will re-make a new one out of aluminum down the track. I will melt down some scrap and cast a block and lathe this new one. (subscribe for a future videos) Frame was made from left over RHS I had in the shop etc. Stand too. I used bearings I had laying around for the adjustment/alignment wheel. Bolts were re-used where possible. The VFD within the treadmill was fried so I bought a new DC drive etc (see below) https://www.motordrives.com.au/kb_dc_...
