Here is the music video from the studio version of "The Lady in My Life" from Stanley's Magic Touch album on Blue Note Records. This video was directed by Dick Fontaine, and the woman in the opening and closing scenes is Pat Hartley, who played the lead in the Jimi Hendrix movie Rainbow Bridge. Her real world connection to Jimi provided a kind of subtext to the story in the video. The dancer is Victoria Dillard, who went on to a successful acting career in television and film. Regarding the recording and video Stanley says, "Michael Jackson's Thriller had taken the World by storm, and it featured this Rod Temperton song that I felt was so beautiful and kind of a sleeper, so I decided to include it on my album. Onaje Allen Gumbs wrote the arrangement and Al Dimeola was the producer. I'm honored that this track is now considered a smooth jazz classic. This video brings back a flood of memories because it was shot on the main corner where I used to play during my days as a New York street performer--48th and 7th."
