In December 2023, 81-year-old Fannie Allred—a beloved St. Louis County grandmother, cancer survivor, and family matriarch—was brutally murdered inside the home she had lived in for more than two decades. Allred, who had recently defeated stage-2 colon cancer, was found stabbed multiple times in the head, neck, and chest by her daughter after family members grew alarmed by a disturbing Facebook post made at 7:59 a.m. on December 24, 2023 by her grandson, 37-year-old Ronald Allred, stating, “Grandma told me she’s in heaven!!” Authorities say Ronald Allred had been staying at the home despite Fannie previously telling relatives she feared him. He was later identified as the primary suspect, fled police, and was arrested after a multi-agency pursuit and SWAT standoff. He has since been charged in connection with Fannie Allred’s killing, along with related charges stemming from the violent attack that also left her two French bulldogs stabbed but alive. What should have been a season of survival and family instead ended in betrayal and irreversible loss. RIP Fannie Allred.
