Dr. Pita reporting for duty! 🧪 In this video, I’ll show you how to spot and treat the 5 most common houseplant pests — fungus gnats, mealybugs, aphids, spider mites, and thrips — while breaking down the biology that makes each one tick. Learn where these pests come from, how they feed (cell-piercing vs phloem-sucking), how fast they reproduce, and why certain treatments work better depending on their anatomy. P.S. After doing a little more research, it is possible that systemic granules work against thrips, because the systemics can seep into cells and other parts of the plant--but it is not always the best treatment against thrips--especially because they can build resistance fast. Spider mites are not affected by systemics because they are not true insects (they are arachnids) and have receptors that are a little different from insects.
