Smoking a Cigarette from the UK for the First Time. Specifically, I Smoked and Reviewed the Lambert & Butler Original Silver from the United Kingdom, which appear to be a mid-range full flavored product, from what I can tell at least. L&B is a historic British tobacco nameplate, having first come into existence as both a brand and as a company in 1834, and both slowly rose in popularity as the years went on. However, in 1901, L&B merged with a variety of other British tobacco companies to create Imperial Tobacco, the same company who still produces these cigarettes today. At that time, it was very different from what we know today, and while the brand did continue to be produced throughout the early and mid-1900's, their popularity started to wane. That is, until 1979, when filtered, king size Lambert & Butler cigarettes as we know them today we introduced, and supposedly, they were an instant hit. Today, the nameplate is of course owned and produced by Imperial Tobacco, and is quite popular within the United Kingdom, along with some other countries where the brand is sold today.
