FAJR Scientific 2023 Gaza Mission Summary

FAJR Scientific achieved numerous remarkable accomplishments during its recent mission in Gaza from August 3rd to August 11th, 2023. Our distinguished team successfully completed 153 complex orthopedic surgeries across the three prominent hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which are Al-Shifa Hospital, Nasser Hospital, and the European Hospital. Remarkably, these surgeries were conducted in ten operating rooms simultaneously, and all without any complications, infections, or safety incidents. It's worth noting that this mission represents the largest medical endeavor of its kind in the history of the Gaza Strip. The mission was under the supervision of Dr. Musab Nasser, the CEO of the Foundation, and Dr. Khaled Saleh, the President of the Foundation and its chief surgeon. These surgeries greatly improved the quality of life for 153 Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip. all of whom were in urgent need of such medical interventions. Furthermore, our commitment extended to providing training for local medical personnel and equipping them to perform high-standard procedures independently. Our dedication does not end there, as we continue to visit patients, ensuring they have unwavering support and receive proper physical therapy. These endeavors mark our first step toward our ambitious "50 in 5" goal, which is to transfer the orthopedic surgery expertise accumulated over the past five decades in the United States of America to Palestine within a span of five years. This includes the establishment of five centers of excellence in orthopedic surgery, strategically located in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
