#indiedyer #indiedyed #indiedyedyarn #handdyed #handdyedyarn #dharma #fibrereactive #fiberreactive #fadeset #leftover I had this mixture of fall flame and scarlet (fibre reactive dyes from Dharma) left over from another project. Fibre reactive dyes start to react as soon as they come into contact with water, so dye solution can't be kept in the same way acid dyes can. I didn't want to waste this dye, so I decided to dye a fade set on 20g skeins of yarn, in 5 minute increments. I did this in Dye Time #131 ( • Dye Time #131: Natural Dyeing with Foraged... ) with walnut dye but I've not tried this with a dye that I know will exhaust. Fibre reactive dyes can be used on plant based fibre and animal based fibres. Acid dyes can only be used on animal based fibres.
