The Basket Tie is a popular and classic shape that has taken Shibari Study students all the way from basic beginner ties to supportive suspensions and simple-yet-challenging inversions. As taught by Ropunawa, the Half Basket offers a twist on the familiar full version, only capturing one leg to the waist. While only ‘half’ the tie, the Half Basket offers a surprising amount of freedom and versatility of use with Ropunawa also demonstrating how to attach suspension lines for a beautifully asymmetrical partial suspension. Because the Half Basket is less stable than its full counterpart, it’s important to understand the risks involved, which Ropunawa details in this class.
