“I didn’t think I was gonna make it,” said Jamie O’Brien of this Second Reef roll-in bomb from Black Friday’s swell. (More on this soon.) "But I came around the corner, looked up and I was like, 'oh my God, this way is like this way might connect all the way to Pipe.'" As JOB came around the corner, he saw none other than Mike Stewart down the line -- a flashback from the movie Freakside, when JOB and Stewart did doubles on a Pipe wave a couple decades ago. Meaning they both knew exactly what to do. "It was super cool to share a wave with a legend like that," O'Brien said. "Age is just a number if you want it bad enough." Mike Stewart adds: "Jamie and I were on the outside reef. A set came it was my turn so I took off. Jamie ended up taking off another 50 yards back behind. At first, I had no idea he was on the wave and when I looked back, I saw him standing there. As we may our way, in I told him 'let’s pack this Jamie!' I just kept my line and eventually came out. I was blown away to see Jamie hooting and standing right next to me, having no idea how he got there."
