SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 - All 16 Games Shown [PS2]

SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 is a collection of 16 NeoGeo games ported over to the PS2, PSP & Wii. Some of the NeoGeo's heavy hitters are included here such as Metal Slug, Fatal Fury and Neo Turf Masters and the collection represents fantastic value and the porting job was handled pretty well. There's a varied selection of genres to choose from and even a hidden game, World Heroes which has to be unlocked by collecting 10 medals via any of the other 15 games. Medals are a nice addition and act as an achievement system, years before they would become the norm with trophies etc with the PS3.  These would be earned by performing tasks such as completing a game on easy mode or achieving a high score. This compilation's stand-out titles include Metal Slug, the first in the series of run-and-gun classics. Last Resort is a fantastic SHMUP with some nice mechanics and also included is what I would classify as one of the best golfing games available with Neo Turf Masters, this holds up very well even today. Regarding performance, SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 runs at a stable frame rate and any input lag is unnoticeable to me making this retro collection a nice way to play these games. That said, in my footage, I wasn't completely eliminating horizontal shimmering no matter what settings I chose, indicating uneven pixel scaling within the emulation itself. There is a sequel titled SNK Arcade Classics 0 which is exclusive to the PSP. The reason they went with 'zero' instead of a Vol.2 is this collection contains earlier games from the 1980s. I have a Japanese copy of Zero and I'll no doubt be making a video documenting what games are included in that collection soon.
