Echoes of the Ozarks/Seneca Square Dance by Brad Leftwich & The Humdingers

Key of G. Brad Leftwich-fiddle; Sam Bartlett-guitar; Abby Ladin-bass; Linda Higginbotham-banjo uke. From the fiddling of Sam Long (1876-1931). Brad has always admired Long as a fiddler, but in the last few years he's learned an even greater appreciation for the rhythmic subtleties of these tunes. Unfortunately this great fiddler, who won the Oklahoma State Fiddle Contest in 1927 as well as many other contests, died from lung disease at the age of 54 and left behind only a few recordings. This rendition is the last cut on the 2020 Humdingers CD "Rise and Bloom Again." Recorded by Joseph DeJarnette in Bloomington, IN. Photo by Laura Ley.
