It has both original and appellate jurisdiction. High Courts: Each state has a High Court which has appellate jurisdiction over lower courts within the state and also has original jurisdiction in certain cases. District Courts: Each district has a District Court which is the principal court of original civil jurisdiction and criminal jurisdiction. It is presided over by a District Judge. Subordinate Courts: There are various subordinate courts which come under the District Courts.
