The biggest trend right now is wireless. And I would recommend going with Cat 6 A, which is the top of the line for wireless applications. If you want to future-proof your data networking I would recommend going to Cat 6 A for everything, not just wireless. Cat 5 E was introduced 30 years ago and has been good enough up until the last five or so years. Cat 6 A will do the same thing. You won't have to re-cable anymore. Now, if it's too expensive of an option, I would just go with the wireless with Cat 6 A and use Cat 6 for your infrastructure.
