Indian Adivasis’ Culture | Songs of the #sundarbans | Indigenous dance | West Bengal, Part B Adivasis' Culture and Livelihood through Indigenous Song and Dance in the Sundarbans village, West Bengal, India. These women belong to the Munda Adivasis' community by birth and they live in Indian part of Sundarbans. The Munda Adivasis’ are one of the oldest tribes in India, who use dance and music as a way to express their joy and sorrow and peoples also perform song and dances on various tribal festival at villages. Their native languages are Mundari which is ancient tribal language in Indian subcontinent. These Adivasis cultural performances included Jhumur, Tusu, Santal songs and dances. Some of the major Adivasis’ groups of Sundarbans are Santhal, Munda, Oraon, Ho, Baiga, Lodha and Khand. Santal, Munda, Toran, Oraon, Ho, Baiga, Lodha and Khand group peoples carry on the diverse cultural heritage of the Sundarbans through Adivasis’ songs, dances and various lively performances. Jhumur, Tusu, Santal songs of the tribal women and drum and madol sounds of the men and the combined footsteps of their dance create a lively musical atmosphere. Cultural characteristics of Adivasis play an important role in the study of diversity in rural India’s. They are the ones who continue to preserve the Adivasis' language and culture in West Bengal, India. Performing Adivasis’ culture including fishing, crabbing, honey collection in the forest is also a tool for their livelihood. Many tourists, students and local villagers from home and abroad look forward to experience the cultural performances of these Adivasis. We visited the Sundarbans, one of the world's largest mangrove forests, located in the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal to witness the rich and diverse indigenous culture. Presenting to you this video (Part B) of Indian Adivasis’ culture through dance and song performance, which was recorded in a remote village called Anpur (Satjelia) in Sundarbans.
