Want to collect, store, and grow your own native plants from seed? Follow along this seed-saving webinar for expert advice! With us, we are proud to have Maggie Muzante, Nursery Manager at the Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI), and Dan Tyska, Local Grower at Tyska Native Plants & Consulting to share tips and insights on how they use knowledge of local ecology to drive their nursery operations. This webinar was made in proud collaboration with the Town of North Hempstead and The Bryant Library. Maggie Muzante is the Lead Nursery Manager at the Long Island Native Plant Initiative, bringing 5 years of expertise since joining in June 2020. Maggie specializes in seed harvesting, cleaning, storing, and propagation, as well as managing greenhouse and nursery operations, plant sales, and volunteer coordination. A Farmingdale graduate and Certified Nursery Landscape Professional, Maggie has also participated in numerous symposiums and conferences. Maggie’s passion for native plants, nature, and the environment drives her contributions to the organization. Dan Tyska is a nursery professional with over 10 years of experience. His specialization and passion centers around the production and conservation of Northeastern Native Plant Species. After his undergraduate degree where he received a Bachelor’s in Environmental Biology at SUNY ESF (College of Environmental Science and Forestry). he took on several different jobs, in both the private and public sector that allowed him to wear many different hats while protecting native flora.
