Reject The Screen in Pick & Roll

It’s difficult to fight over screens all game long... reason #1 because the NBA gives big 7 footers a little bit of freedom to move when they’re setting a screen #2 a lot of P&R coverages require the on-ball defender to fight over a screen (drop coverage is a good example) #3 being even 1/2 a step behind a great P&R player is like a basketball death sentence, so it’s important to get over a screen as quick as possible! ^It’s easy to see why the on-ball defender can get over-anxious & cheat the screen. This is why I believe a P&R ball handler should ALWAYS test the reject 1st. If you beat your defender, all you have to worry about is the guy guarding the screener... more times than not, those guys cheat/fall asleep on the screen too. At the very least, you can normally can create an advantage for a drive & kick or just reset if there’s nothing going #NBA #Basketball #PickAndRoll
