Education Minister Urges Immediate Shift of Sikkim University to Permanent Campus at Yangang Gangtok, June 24: Education Minister Raju Basnet has strongly urged the Vice Chancellor of Sikkim University to expedite the process of shifting the Central University to its permanent campus at Yangang. Expressing concern over the prolonged delay, the Minister said the situation is “no less than a broadening criminal offence,” emphasizing that students continue to be deprived of quality higher education due to the lack of adequate infrastructure. He called for immediate and coordinated action to ensure that the university functions from its designated campus at the earliest. “Our students deserve access to proper facilities and a conducive learning environment,” said Minister Basnet. In response, Vice Chancellor Prof. Abhijit Dutta stated that over 70% of the construction work at the Yangang campus has already been completed. He also sought the state government’s support in facilitating the release of remaining funds for the second phase of construction from the central government. #sikkimchronicle
