3-metre backyard radio telescope tour and demo

Over the years I have received several questions from other radio astronomy enthusiasts about this homemade modular dish, so I decided to make a video on it. Some additional background info not included in the video: the dish was originally built in 2017- 2018 as part of a school project. It has been improved and repaired several times since then. Currently there is a 1420 MHz filter in place, but this can be easily swapped for a 1612 MHz filter for observing OH masers. The system temperature is about 120 Kelvin, as estimated from the cold sky to ground ratio and SNR measurements of the hydrogen line towards the galactic plane (note that system temperature is a measure of the system’s internal noise, not an actual temperature!)
