Strain & Filter 4. Process Your Wash 5. Collect & Store Oil Equipment needed: SOURCE Turbo from ExtractCraft (**Please prepare by adjusting for your altitide according to the manufaturer'sinstructions.) 110 mm Buchner Funnel Filter papers: 110mm "Slow" Flow 3-micron and "Fast" Flow 15-micron 1 liter Vaccum Flask ExtractCraft vaccum tubing & adaptor 2 one quart or larger glass canning jars with lids Storage containers for your oil: small glass jars, plastic or glass 3ml or 1ml capped syringes, small silicone "dab" cups Optional: Silicone mini spatula Mesh sprouting screen for your jar to strain wash Silicon mat for purging off alcohol Ingredients: 1-2 ounces Dried Cannabis flowers, trim, or kief. Can be decarbed or undecarbed. 2 Liters 190 proof or above food-grade ethanol alcohol This procedure at these amounts will typically require 4 "processes" or 8 "runs" of the machine and will yield 6-12 total grams of FECO depending on the potency of the original cannabis used. Directions: 1. Freeze: Place up to 2 ounces of hand broken-up dried cannabis in a quart jar and your 2 liters of alcohol in the freezer overnight. 2. First Wash: Combine about 1200ml the alcohol and cannabis and agitate gently for 1 minute. Return to the freezer for 5 minutes, then strain the alcohol away from the cannabis. Reserve the alcohol. 3. Second Wash: Combine about 1200ml more cold alcohol in the quart jar with the previously washed cannabis, agitate gently and return to the freezer for 10 minutes. Strain the alcohol away for the cannabis and combine with the first wash. 4. First Filtration: Filter your combined washes with a "fast" flow filter in your buchner funnel using the vaccum flask, tubing, and vaccum port on the Source Turbo. 5. Optional Step: "Winterizing" - for a higher quality end product, freeze your fast filtered washes overnight to solidfy any plant lipids or waxes and make them easier to remove in the second filtration. Otherwise, proceed directly to the second filtration if you'd like to finish as fast as possible. 6. Second Filtration: Filter your combined washes with a "slow" flow filter (you can also sub 2 "fast" flow filters) in your buchner funnel using the vaccum flask, tubing, and vaccum port on the Source Turbo. 7. Process: Assemble your Source Turbo with the black mat, alcohol recovery globe in place. Pour alcohol wash into the crucible to the fill line, approximately 300ml or 10 oz. Gently and carefully screw the crucible fully on to the heating post and place the slanted lid on the globe. Plug in the machine, turn the metal knob gently to the closed position and press the green button for 4 seconds for Turbo mode or 2 seconds for regular mode. Place the ice pan filled with ice on the Source Turbo's lid. Keep the ice pan full of ice through this process to aid in recollecting your alcohol. 8. Run the machine: Typically, a full crucible requires a little over one 120 minute run, so when your machine shuts off automatically, restart it again and begin checking on your concentrate's viscosity through the lid by gently tilting your machine to observe if it is like a light oil consistency. This procedure at these amounts will typically require 4 "processes" or 8 "runs" of the machine and will yield 6-12 total grams of FECO depending on the potency of the original cannabis used. 9. When your oil has reached the right consistency, press the green button to stop your machine and turn the metal knob gently to open the vacuum seal on the machine and allow you to open the lid. If the crucible is still warm, use oven mitts to unscrew it from the heating post. Reserve your recollected alcohol for future use. 10. Collect and store: There are many ways to collect and store your FECO. Store in small glass jars as is Pour onto a mat and allow all alcohol to evaporate off Pull the crucible a little sooner from the machine and use as a potent alcohol-based tincture Store in glass or plastic luer capped syringes with added oil (not smokable) or without oil (smokable). Hints for Storage: Cannabis extract can be extremely thick and sticky. Heat and Cold are your allies in manipulating this resinous oil into your choice of storage containers. Heating liquifies the oil and allows it to poured or pulled up into a syringe. Cold solidifies the oil and allows it to be gathered into a ball and pulled off the mat. You can also dilute the extract with alcohol or oil to liquify it.
