S.Korea calls for Japan to not conceal wartime atrocities / YTN

South Korea has expressed grave concerns over the Japanese ruling party's attempt to gloss over its wartime history. The government's stance came after reports by Japanese media on Tuesday that a committee under Japan's Liberal Democratic Party plans to submit a written proposal aimed to whitewash Japan's World War Two conscription of women for military brothels. In the proposal, the LDP lawmakers demand that Japan move more actively in correcting what is misunderstood regarding the sex slave issue, according to the Japanese media. Seoul's foreign ministry issued a statement immediately and called on Japan to not try to cover up its wartime past, warning that any such attempt would stir backlash from the international community.
