Reliable data on births and deaths is essential for effective planning, equitable investment, and accountable governance. When vital events are accurately recorded, governments and partners can identify gaps, prevent avoidable deaths, and strengthen health and social systems, ensuring that no woman, young person, or community is left behind. In partnership with the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), UNFPA in Kenya has supported the production and dissemination of the Kenya Vital Statistics Report since 2013 through sustained technical and financial assistance to improve registration completeness and data quality. Through strong government leadership and continued investment in CRVS, Kenya now has national and county-level birth and death registration data covering 2009–2024. This availability of comprehensive vital statistics strengthens accountability, supports monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), and enables evidence-based decision-making at all levels of development planning. When every birth and every death is counted, every life is visible in policy, in budgets, and in national priorities.
