Suspects shouted 'Semper Fi' while violently attacking trans woman in Seattle

Seattle police have arrested a man accused in the violent assault of a transgender woman in Seattle's University District on March 27. Court records show the same suspect, identified as Andre Karlow, was involved in a domestic violence incident and another hate crime in September 2024. The victim, who identifies as a transgender woman, told police she was headed to meet her partner at the light rail station after leaving work when a group of men called the victim a “drag queen” and told her to “take your f------ makeup off.” The victim began taking her cell phone out to record the men, but court documents say, “the group of suspects began assaulting her by punching her in the face.” The victim fell to the ground as the suspects continued to kick and punch her. She was eventually able to get away, but the suspects chased her as she fled into a business on the 4700 block of University Way NE. The suspects reportedly continued to use slurs and misgender the victim, as well as repeatedly shouting “Semper Fi” during the attack, according to court documents.
