In this episode, we stayed home, comparing Hausland and Igboland's largest cities. Hausaland's Kano and Igboland's Onitsha, the two largest cities in their respective regions, are unique in their own right. They have distinct languages, cuisines, cultures, and traditions, with little in common. The relationship between the two is complex, with differences that could potentially lead to conflict. They don't like themselves and almost never date or intermarry. To those who aren't familiar with the country, Nigeria is mainly known for fraud, drug trafficking, and some very excellent individuals. However, the Nigerian ethnic grouping is the world's most mismatched. The Nigerian government launched a civil war in the late 1960s, mainly involving soldiers of Hausa heritage, which devastated Onitsha. Little was left of the city until the remarkable Igbo comeback from the brink of extinction. As you drive through the city, there are barely any traces of that bloody war. Kano, on the other hand, has stayed pretty much untouched, as evidenced by its countless historical buildings. For lovers of Africa, the city is a must-visit. It is beautiful and caressed with unrelenting Hausa hospitality. The people are humble, polite, and respectful. Kano is bound to make you fall in love if you cherish simplicity, history, culture, and adventure. We're eager to hear your thoughts on this cultural comparison.
