Hey everyone! In this video, I'm sharing my very first attempt at building an RC ornithopter! This isn't just any ornithopter, though—it features a custom differential flapping wing system which makes for some unique flight control. I printed the main structure using a 3D printer, but for the rest of the build, I got creative and resourceful! You'll see me use carbon fiber tubes, bamboo sticks, and even a modified wind-up toy gearbox for the mechanical heart of the system. 🛠️ What you'll learn in this video: How to craft a lightweight and effective flapping mechanism (gearbox). The technique for making strong and realistic wings and a tail. A clever way to adapt a common 2-channel RC plane receiver that uses differential thrust. I show you how the onboard single-axis gyro (which stabilizes the plane in the roll axis) can be used to stabilize the ornithopter too!
