A segment of The Qawwali Project by Manjari Chaturvedi. The symposium is a part of the initiatives taken by SKF, to preserve, promote and create awareness for the traditional arts of this country. Such symposium and festivals provide not only ways of scholarly discussion, but also give the people a chance to experience the art form in its purest form. At the same time, they also serve as a means to preserve traditional arts but gives opportunities to the marginal yet extremely talented artists of India, who due to dearth of opportunities are unable to follow their passion and love for the music. The symposium aims to engage in the process of exchanging knowledge and ideas with other art related organizations, concerned universities, schools, different organizations working in the related fields. It will involve students, scholars, experts who take interest in studying Indian Music, Medieval Indian Music, Musical Poetry, Qawwali or any such relevant subject. The Foundation has organised 8 seminars in last 10 years and also curated evenings for people to understand dance, music, spirituality through the practitioners. www.sufikathakfoundation.com Prof Vinay Kumar Srivastava , Professor of Anthropology, University of Delhi A Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, Prof Vinay Kumar Srivastava has been a prominent figure in the field of anthropology. He served as the Principal in Hindu University and returned to the department of anthropology in Delhi University in 2011. Authoring innumerable academic and research works including books, monographs, papers and articles, his areas of specialization over the years have been comparative religion, caste system, family dynamics, medical systems, and anthropological theory and methods. Presently the Head of the Department, Prof Srivastava has also been on the boards and committees of various universities and societies on anthropology and sociology
