How to Make Flattening Jigs for PVC Pipe Bows - DIY Archery

Hey everyone! Today we're going back in time to make two simple flattening jigs for tapering and flattening PVC for bows. First up is a simple flexible jig that uses a single 1x4 board with spacers. Next we'll be making a flattening jig that is adjustable so you can go from one diameter of pipe to another and tone-down or ramp-up the weight of a bow by altering thickness. It works well for any bow, just be sure to make the board you attach it to at least half as long as the bow you want to make. This jig will work for bows up to 6 feet long. To build it, you will need: 1) 2x4, 3 feet long and 1) 2x4, 5 feet long. These can be cut from a single 8 foot length of 2x4 2) 3/8 inch carriage bolts, 3 and 1/2 inches long. 2) 3/8 inch hex nuts. 4) 3/8 inch washers. 2) 3/8 inch wing nuts. For tools, you'll need a saw, drill or drill press and 3/8 inch drill bit. If using hex nuts instead of wing nuts, you might want a wrench. Thanks for watching and enjoy! Like my shirt?
