In this video we are using a Massey Ferguson RK772 twin rotor rake to rake alfalfa orchard grass hay. This is thin 4th cutting northern Indiana hay in the video we are raking 40 foot into a windrow going down and then back into the same windrow of hay. This type of rake is a side delivery twin rotor with the ability to make two 13’ swaths in a single pass or one 22’ swath in a single windrow in one pass. The way the rake delivers hay into the windrow stands the hay up all the same direction for better dry down and is much easier on the hay improving leaf retention compared to other forms of raking hay. I also believe it makes the baler bale smoother due to the hay not being all knotted or roped up in the windrow. All of this is a step in the process of what we go through to turn out a premium hay product for market. My biggest complaint on this product is the 2 point hitch pins are category 1 or you can flip them around and have category 2. There is no category 3 option and I hate using bushings to achieve this. It is also not made to use with a quick hitch being the top hook is in the way. We did use cat II bushings to make it cat III and a quick hitch with a removable top hook and it works flawless unfortunately I feel like Massey should have done a better job of that design. Otherwise has been one of the best investments for turning out a top quality product.
