Harry Hudson's Melody Men -- Miss Annabelle Lee, Fox-Trot with Vocal Chorus by Joe Leigh, Radio Edison Bell 1927 (UK) NOTE: One of the best dance bands in the 1920s in United Kingdom plays one of the most "flapper" hits which at that time was composed. The July 1922 edition of Flapper Magazine, whose tagline was "Not for old fogies," contained "A Flappers' Dictionary." According to it, a Flapper was "one with a jitney body and a limousine mind." In 1920s, young people of Europe and Ameerica responded to the memory of horrors of the First World War, with unprecedented outbreak of the cult of youth, body, dance, sports and fashions. Never ever in history, as it seems, the popular culture was so crazy and yet so elegant, so mad, vibrant yet full of taste and sophistication. In that atmosphere of continuous party, in the meantime, two most terrible monsters were born behind backs of the dancing guests: communism and national socialism, that were soon to devour Western civilisation. Both rooted in the largest human error, which was Marxism, soon were to bring Europe unimaginable suffering... But -- for the moment being we still have the happy year 1926. The best dance music is being composed and sold in millions sheet notes or records throughout the world. Let's watch now, how "the most wonderful, most marvelous, most kissable" miss Annabelle Lee goes out for a walk, watched greedily by the delighted men's gazes...
